Whole Person Coaching - Personal and Professional
Clients are the experts of their own lives. The coaching process can assist a person to develop autonomy and self-efficacy in ways that evolve as the client coach relationship evolves.
Note -
From the perspective of a purist, coaching is a process through which a Client and a Coach co-create a thought-provoking and creative discussion, meant to assist the Client in maximizing their personal potential or addressing a challenge. The coaching techniques applied are meant to provide a structure that supports the Client to transform, as they align with their purposes, set intentions and overcome various types of obstacles. It can feel like a discovery process, where the Client uncovers things they realize that in one way or another, they already knew.
It is the coach's responsibility to:
∙ Discover, clarify, and align with what the coachee wants to achieve
∙ Encourage self-discovery
∙ Elicit coachee-generated solutions and strategies
∙ Hold the coachee responsible and accountable– if accountability is part of the co-created coaching agreement
The EQ-i 2.0 provides a detailed assessment of areas of strength and potential areas for development of EQ competencies. EQ competencies are foundational for building relationships and teams, resolving conflicts, solving problems, leading effectively and building resilience.
The report reflects information relating to self-perception, self-expression, interpersonal, decision making and stress management, as well as how the competencies relate to each other.
The review session starts by discussing how the report works and factors that can impact accuracy.
The report contains guidance for questions and client reflections. It is a useful and empowering tool, which could lead into several more coaching sessions, if desired.
The session often includes an action plan or inter disbursed mini goal statements.
Understanding the correlation between your competencies and areas for improvement opens up many opportunities for awareness or growth.
Take inventory with a well-rounded review of health and well-being matters.
The goal is to review various status points of health and well-being components, so the client may take a sky view of the inventory and determine if they would like to set any goals or explore any needs or opportunities.
This could include taking inventory of medical check-up routines, sleeping routines, adherence level to doctor recommendations, nutrition goals or interests, exercise habits, relaxation practices or any other items comprised of health and well-being from the client's perspective.
The objective is to take the time to sit and focus on organized thoughts in this area of life. Taking inventory empowers us to see ourselves more clearly and to make decisions from a place of awareness.
The outcome intention of this session is to have a plan or start of a plan for business growth. The plan will be about more than just tasks, targets and metrics. The plan will be formed with you, your company and your goals as a consideration, from which the business development plan will be rooted in. We will be looking for ways to put authenticity into action and turn it into revenue.
Explore options for networking, including review of various trade associations, business groups, social groups, charity work or events, and the pros and cons of various options. Analyze specific groups, pros and cons, as well as synergies. Explore interests to determine the most sustainable options. Also review possible return on investment for each group, benchmark needs and dealbreaker boundaries (ie 7 am meetings for a person who works until 10 pm might be a dealbreaker).
Even the best leaders have room for development. You might come to this session with a particular goal or concern. You may come to this session with an intention to explore or brainstorm about what leadership is to you now or what you want it to be for your future. You might be trying to figure out how to manage your manager. This is an open leadership sessions that can be all coaching or partly consulting as well.
This session will be adjusted to the appropriate work necessary based on the status of the speaking. It is likely to take a deeper dive in one or more of the areas listed. However, it may also only cover part of one area. This will be dependent on the preparation work done by the client before the session or in between sessions. This is meant to be a workshop session where the client moves forward on a component of public speaking, which may include: idea generation for speaking topics, examining speaking opportunities through various platforms or groups, contemplating co-speakers or panelist idea, preparing a pitch, creating the scope of the presentation, preparing the materials, target outcome goals and follow up plans.
Take into consideration primary foods of life (areas of life that make you feel whole, such as relationships, physical activity, fulfillment in career or general satisfaction and fulfillment) vs. secondary foods (food that is put on your plate and eaten, supplements, nutrient consumption).
Consider times when you feel connected with your well-being vs. when well-being seems to feel distant. Examine how certain adjustments can help you achieve more of a work life balance, based on what works for you. Explore the concept of what work life balance means to you.
This session can examine a particular concern or be more about setting intentions and goals.
Prior to the session, the Client will complete an online assessment questionnaire. A report will be generated by the DISC report company and provided to the Coach. The Coach will review the report and provide it to the Client shortly before the review session. The report does not need to be reviewed by the Client before the session, as it is designed to be reviewed together initially.
The DISC model examines personality styles related to (D) dominance, (I) influence, (S) steadiness and (c) conscientiousness. It also discusses related topics, such as orientations related to action, results, challenge, accuracy, stability, support, collaboration and enthusiasm.
Although this assessment can be seen as relatively simple compared to other assessments, it is highly effective at helping individuals understand themselves and others. It presents a common language to use to better understand oneself and other people. That knowledge can then be used to reduce conflict and improve relationships.
This tool can be used individually, or it can be done by a group and shared in a group setting.
The Client can choose to focus on any area of life with their journey to a purpose statement, or the session can focus on a more general broad based perspective of the Client.
This is a guided exercise with a worksheet that gets completed by the Coach during the session. The worksheet information is provided to the Client when the session is completed for their reflection.
During this session, you will work to bring your judgments to the surface, explore if and how you see yourself in others, come to terms with your judgments and create a practice of self-compassion to work through this patterned thinking and thoughts.
This session provides an opportunity for the Client to find a new meaning relating to a challenge. The Client will identify a challenge and what meaning they apply to that challenge. Through a discussion and inquiry process, a review will be done of the costs and benefits of that meaning, along with examination of alternative meanings. The session will end with an action plan. It is designed to assist the Client to break through thought patterns relating to a challenge.
